CPPE Blood Pressure assessment in community pharmacy: essential skills

In collaboration with the British Hypertension Society (BHS), CPPE have been asked by NHS England to
develop a workshop to support pharmacy professionals with increasing their skills and confidence around
providing the Hypertension case finding service in community pharmacy, with a particular focus around
ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). The workshop will include a primary care clinician from the
BHS, and key learning outcomes will include identifying eligible patients, identifying indications for ABPM,
practice assessment of BP and interpretation of results and an opportunity to practice person centred
consultations. The workshop will also support the creation of a training plan to enable other members of the
pharmacy team to provide the Hypertension Case Finding Service.
