Lucy Frazer MP asks her pharmacist

As part of the national ‘Ask Your Pharmacist Week’ Lucy Frazer, MP spent time visiting Waterbeach Pharmacy in south Cambridgeshire to find out more about the range of services available in local pharmacies.

In recent years, community pharmacy has expanded its role, and now provides a wide range of clinical and public health services (NHS and non-NHS), within easy reach of the people who need them most.   However, while most people go first to their pharmacy for medicines and medicines advice, many don’t know about the range of other healthcare services on offer in pharmacies.

Lucy Frazer MP said: “It was very interesting to visit Waterbeach pharmacy and find out more about the wide range of services available in community pharmacies. While most people will go first to their pharmacy for medicines advice, many don’t know about the range of other healthcare services provided and the level of expertise there.  I was pleased to see a whole range of services on offer including the flu jab. Waterbeach Pharmacy provides a great service to its community.”

Some of the other services available in local pharmacies include stop smoking programmes, sexual health advice, flu vaccinations, medicine use reviews and health checks.

Activities are planned across the country during Ask Your Pharmacist Week include health checks in shopping centres, community talks, pharmacy window displays.
