Smartcards

Registration Authority (RA) and smartcard support for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is provided by HBL ICT Shared services.

The team will support with access requests, smartcard issues and general RA queries.

Series 10 Smartcards (August 2026)

Series 10 Smartcards will be available soon.

The current Series 9 Smartcards are no longer being manufactured and are being phased out as the remaining stock diminishes.

Important: 10 series Smartcards require new software to work. All relevant software can be found here – NHS Smartcard Connect – NHS England Digital. Your IT Provider will need to ensure that this software is installed on all machines to ensure that the Series 10 Smartcards function correctly.

 Please note: There is no requirement to replace older series Smartcards with the Series 10 which are still functional, these will still continue to work as normal, and there are currently no plans to depreciate older series Smartcards (08 & 09).
