Smoking rates in Peterborough remain higher than average for both Cambridgeshire and England. The Council are always looking for new providers of the smoking cessation service, it is especially useful to have advisors who speak additional languages.
Pharmacies can provide a full smoking cessation service or can offer the NRT voucher service where NRT products are supplied by the pharmacy but no additional support needs to be provided to the patient.
At least one pharmacist per pharmacy and any other staff intending to deliver the service must complete the following:
- ‘Core Competencies in Helping People Stop Smoking’ online training via the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training website – https://elearning.ncsct.co.uk/england. This must be completed prior to face to face training.
- Attend a face to face or virtual training day organised by smoking cessation leads. See the link below to view and book upcoming sessions.
- Advisors are required to update their training annually. Peterborough advisors are welcome to attend the Camquit training sessions run across Cambridgeshire. See the link below to view and book upcoming sessions.
